Joan is a second generation Korean-American from Seattle who graduated from Western Washington University with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.A. in Spanish. She currently works full-time as a fundraiser and event coordinator in Seattle for conservation organizations. Joan is passionate about ensuring the voices of POC are included in the outdoor and environmental narratives. She strives to push diversity, equity and inclusion both outdoors and in the workplace, and volunteers her time as an organizer for Environmental Professionals of Color in addition to her time with Outdoor Asian. She loves hiking, camping, backpacking and eating, and will happily share her food with you at a campsite or on the trail!
